What’s In Season: January
Get the New Year off to a good start by eating seasonal & local veg available to you. If you live in the UK like us this month there are plenty of:
Leeks...the most mellow members of the allium family. They are nutrient-dense, meaning they are high in vitamins (A, B9, C & K) and minerals (magnesium & iron). Plus rich in prebiotic sugar inulin which may help repair and maintain healthy gut lining.
Carrots…perfect time of year to tuck into warming soups and stews with carrots. Rich source of beta-carotene (especially when cooked), carrots may boost skin’s health and improve cognitive function. Plus rich in vitamins A (converted from beta-carotene), B, C & K.
Brussel sprouts…are not just for Christmas. They are full of antioxidants and rich source of carotenoids, folate and vitamins (C & K). Thus involved in supporting tissue repair and immune function.
